Prime Point Partners in partnership with the Prime Blue Institute from Ohrid and the Central European Initiative CEI is organizing the first-of-a-kind Blue Economy Summit in the Western Balkan region.
The Blue Economy is a significant part of the European Green Deal. It represents a sustainable use of water and coastal resources for economic growth and job creation, encompassing renewable energy, maritime transport, waste management, sustainable tourism and agriculture, aquaculture, bio-economy, desalination, blue-tech innovation, robotics, etc. As stated by the 2022 EU Blue Economy Report “The Blue Economy represents one of the greatest drivers of the European business growth, generating around € 750 billion and creating 5.4 million job opportunities per year”.
Given the important role of this sector, the inaugural “Ohrid Blue Economy Summit” will be among the first activities of this kind to tackle the importance of the fresh-water basins, addressing the specific sustainability challenges in tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and municipal sectors (urban development, waste management, energy efficiency, etc.). The Summit aims to raise awareness of economic growth and development possibilities of the Blue Economy and to address the importance and specific sustainability challenges of fresh water with a special focus on Lake Ohrid and the broader area of the Drim River basin.
We have confirmed more than 40+ speakers and 50+ participants from 10+ countries. Speakers taking part in the event will include policymakers from both Macedonia and Albania, industry experts, international development institutions and banks, maritime clusters, and companies that work in the green and blue tech sectors. This event is by invitation only, for experts and companies working in the blue economy sectors.
